Dr Maryam Khosravi

Maryam completed her undergraduate medical training at University College London with distinction, intercalating a first class Bachelor of Science degree in neuro-pharmacology which encompassed research into the electophysiological pathways of pain.

She became involved with research at the Centre for Altitude, Space and Extreme Environment Medicine in 2005 and joined the Oxygen Utilisation/Metabolic Group within the 2007 Caudwell Extreme Everest Medical Research Expedition as an investigator. Having previously climbed in the Alps and Himalayas she was also selected for the support climbing team on the South Col of Everest after summitting Cho Oyu in 2006.

Maryam?s work in hypoxia continues with analysis and translation into several ongoing clinical studies at the Royal Free Hospital in London where she continues her clinical training. She is also a lecturer and tutor for UCL?s Extreme Environment Physiology BSc module with a keen interest in the hypoxic kidney.
