The final day of CPEX testing for the Xtreme Alps Team

Today was the final day of CPEX testing for the Xtreme Alps Team and thankfully it went much smoother than yesterday! We started the day with Oli Moses and Oli Firth going head to head on their ramp tests; with both Oli?s performing very well the cheers from Team B could be heard in Alangna! Al, Maryam and Adam also put in great performances this afternoon.

In the physiology lab today, the rest of the core subjects underwent echo, plethesmography and NIRS studies with all subjects having a baseline measurement before being given 30 minutes of oxygen and having the tests repeated. The final physiology studies are being carried out tomorrow leaving the neuroscience studies for Wednesday: our last day at the Margherita Hut. The hut is currently encased in cloud but hopefully it will clear for tomorrow so we can make the most of our last few days in the Alps.

Last night Team B decided to break the habit of watching a (usually awful!) film in the evening and instead brought out the game Twister. As you may imagine, Twister got very competitive with the hut staff and other climbers joining in the fun. Tonight?s entertainment is in the form of a quiz organized by Oli and Oli. After Ned and Steve?s impressive quiz last week they have a lot to live up to and I?m sure they won?t disappoint.
