Degrees in Neurosciences (U.C.L.) and Medicine (Cambridge). Subsequently trained in Surgery in London and Edinburgh. Worked for NASA (Ames Research Center and UCSD) investigating the use of lower body negative pressure as an adjunct to bone mineral density and muscle deconditioning in microgravity. Also investigated the use of ultrasound as a non-invasive ICP monitor. Has worked in India, Nepal, Australia, South Africa as well as America and wrote "The Medic's Guide to Work and Electives Around the World" (Arnold publishers).
