Dr Denny Levett


Denny Levett
Denny has extensive experience in diving medicine both in hospital and in the field. She has worked in the diving unit at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and on remote marine biology research expeditions in Tanzania, the Hallaniyat Islands and Fiji. She is responsible for the BSc diving physiology modules. She is currently completing her Diploma in Dviing and Hyperbaric Medicine. Her research interests include the use of hyperbaric oxygen in necrotizing fasciitis for which she is currently completing a Cochrane review and neurocognitive impairment after diving.

Denny also has an interest in altitude physiology, as the Deputy Research Leader of the 2007 Caudwell Xtreme Everest Expedition. Her phd thesis concentrates on the effects of hypoxia on exercise performance.

Denny is an experienced expedition doctor and led the medical team on the Caudwell Xtreme Everest Expedition. She has also accompanied climbing, diving, trekking, dogsledding and ratting expeditions in remote locations worldwide. She is a lecturer on the Expedition Medicine Course for medical professionals and is currently completing the Diploma of Mountain Medicine.
