Dr Mark Edsell

Consultant Anaesthetist specialising in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at St George?s Hospital, London.A lifelong passion for travel and experience as an expedition doctor in Africa, Central America and Asia has led to interests in altitude and diving medicine.

Mark was part of the base camp staff for the 2007 Caudwell Xtreme Everest Medical research expedition and is a member of the Neurosciences research team studying the brain at altitude. Research interests in cerebral perfusion, AMS, pupilometry and echocardiography.

He has extensive experience in diving medicine through work as a dive doctor in remote locations ofIndonesia and Honduras and as a registrar at the Alfred Hyperbaric Unit in Melbourne. Markholds the SPUMS Diploma in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine arteriolopathy is a lecturer on the diving module of the BSc course.
