Ascent to the Margherita Hut

Team A has now arrived at the Margherita Hut. They had to make the ascent a day early, as the forecast for the next few days is not good at all. The team had to get up at 4am to complete their diary, get breakfast, and be ready to leave by 05.30. The weather was perfect. It was -9 degrees centigrade at first, but warmed up as the sun came up. Crampons were required from the off, and all team members were roped to one of the professional guides we employed. A fast team of guys made the ascent in under four hours, and the rest of the team made it well in time for lunch. Now the team is resting, as we have gained another 1000m of ascent.

We will start to build the labs tomorrow. It is good to be reunited with the 2.5 tonnes of kit that has been helicoptered up by Giuliano.
