Xtreme Alps leave the Margherita Hut
Today Team B descended from the Margherita hut. It was a relatively leisurely start as there was no blood taking or Nitric Oxide analysis to be done before breakfast; only the dreaded diary! The helicopter came to pick up the remaining equipment, including the freezers, shortly after we left the hut at 10 am.
There were four different groups descending, all of which took different routes down the mountain as it was such a glorious day and there was so much to explore! Due to the heat the glacier was slightly precarious with crevasses popping up all over the place. Everyone made it safely to the Gnefetti Hut in time for lunch. This afternoon was spent getting some well earned rest in the sunshine.
Tomorrow we have a free day at the Gnefetti Hut to rest or do some climbing. Team B are getting together in various groups planning tomorrow?s activities; some are planning technical climbs, others are unfortunately leaving for home and the rest are planning a walk to a mountain lake for a swim. After all, it has been a long time since we all showered!
